Are generic thank you cards acceptable or tacky? - general wedding thank you on menu wording

I found a wedding thank you cards are a thank-General for the present and memories, then give the name of the bride and groom. This is an acceptable method is to thank, or is it rude not to hand write notes that you specify gift you received?

Just wondering. Someone buys and sends it to sell or not.
